چکیده

Background Clinical studies have shown that many patients may have abnormally reduced myocardial shortening despite preserved ejection fraction (EF). Mathematical modeling explains this apparent paradox by demonstrating, that whilst myocardial shortening determines radial strain (RS), it is absolute wall thickness (AWT) rather than RS that determines EF. We sought in vivo cardiac MR (CMR) evidence to support the mathematical modeling theories.

Echocardiographic Evaluation of left Ventricular Function and Geometry in Pediatric Patients with Kidney Transplantation

Extended abstract Echocardiographic Evaluation of Left Ventricular Function and Geometry in Pediatric Patients with Kidney Transplantation Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is an important, leading cause of mortality and morbidity in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) as well as in renal transplant recipients. Cardiovascular complications become more important in children because of the i...

Left and Right Ventricular Volumes and Global Systolic Function in Isolated Left Bundle Branch Block: A Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging Study

Background Echocardiographic studies have shown a reduction in global left ventricular (LV) ejection fraction (LVEF) in patients with isolated left bundle branch block (LBBB). This is likely due to altered electromechanical activation and resultant loss of septal contribution to LV systolic function. We sought to characterize LV volumes and global systolic function in adult subjects with an iso...

Right ventricular Hemodynamic Alteration after Pulmonary Valve Replacement in Children with Congenital Heart Disease

Introduction:  In patients who underwent surgery to repair Tetralogy of Fallot, right ventricular dilation from pulmonary regurgitation may be result in right ventricular failure, arrhythmias and cardiac arrest. Hence, pulmonary valve replacement may be necessary to reduce right ventricular volume overload. The aim of present study was to assess the effects of pulmonary valve replacement on rig...

بررسی یافته های اکوکاردیو گرافیک قلبی در بیماران سیروز کبدی

Introduction: Cardiovascular abnormalities have been reported in liver cirrhosis (LC). In these patients, cardiac symptoms and physical signs occur as the liver functions worsen. Cirrhosis is associated with hyper dynamic circulation and beta-adrenergic system changes responsible for the cardiovascular abnormalities. The purpose of the present study was to explore the echocardiographic findi...

Relation between regional and global systolic function in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy after β-Blocker therapy or revascularization

BACKGROUND To assess the relationship between improved regional and global myocardial function in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy in response to beta-blocker therapy or revascularization. MATERIALS AND METHODS Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) was performed in 32 patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy before and 8 +/- 2 months after therapy. Patients were assigned clinically to bet...
